New for 2008
We are now able to supply a limited number of pot grown native broadleaves and conifers for planting in spring/summer, as well as rootrainers.
Our Tree Nursery in Devon specialises
in propagating and growing species of trees and shrubs which are
found growing in the woods and hedgerows of the British Isles.
Perrie Hale Forest Nursery was established in Devon
in 1957 and has been run by the same family for the past 50 years.
In that time we have gained considerable experience in growing a
wide range of native trees and shrubs from seeds and cuttings. We
grow on 14 acres of well drained ground on the edge of the Blackdown
Hills. We can offer bare-rooted seedlings/transplants and feathered
whips in a wide range of species.
If you want to plant a mixed native hedge, windbreak, shelterbelt,
large plantation, small coppice, or simply a few trees in the corner
of a field, then we hope this site will help you.
05/07/2008 Come and see us on Thursday 3rd August - Annual Honiton Show - we will have a stand within the Blackdown Hills marquee. Friday 14th September - marquee at the bi-annual South West Woodland Show at Haldon Racecourse, Haldon Hill, Exeter |

Most of our stock is grown from seed, although some species such as
Salix (willow) and Cornus (dogwood) are grown from cuttings
Seedlings remain in the open ground seed beds for one or two years
and are then either undercut in the beds or transplanted to produce
a fibrous root system. The plants are then lifted to order and despatched
in co-extruded plant bags which prevent the plants from drying out
in transit.
Our Nursery is inspected by the Forestry Commission to ensure that
we comply with the E.C. Forest Reproduction Material Regulations. We
are also inspected annually by D.E.F.R.A. to comply with Plant Health
Regulations. |
